  1. Biased to Garmin 5 Star Review

Posted by on 3rd Sep 2015

I may be slightly biased toward Garmin since I have been using their products for over 8 years, but this is a great unit none the less. Like most things you get what you pay for when it comes to satellite navigation. Some other drivers I know still use the $100 nuvi but the features and routing put the dezl in a whole different league. It consistently gives me better routes than my old Streetpilot ever did.
The pros for this unit are many. The truck profile and custom routing is pretty accurate and performs better than any unit I have used in the past. The reporting and tracking are useful for keeping up with info for paperwork. It has a good screen, loud speaker, and easy to use interface. My favorite thing is the ability to load a variety of third party upgrades from Garmin’s website through my PC.
There are some cons as well. You should always double check the route and keep a watch on clearance warning signs. This is not unique and any unit will require the same common sense checks to get you where you are going. The window mount is not included and many people don’t like the bean bag mount it comes with. I like it for the ease of switching vehicles though. Last the traffic is ad supported so that can get irritating after a while but it is easy enough to turn traffic off.
Final analysis is all positive. This unit has no real issues which are not pretty much universal with nav units and performs better than most. I am more than satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone who drives for a living.

  2. Screen Protectors Needed 4 Star Review

The ability to easily switch between truck, car, and walking modes is nice. I also like the fact that points of interest display contact info along with location. This comes in handy when you are on the road looking for something in particular. The extra cost of the LMT unit is worth it for the lifetime map upgrades. This is the first unit I have had with it and since maps can run upwards of 150 dollars a year, it will save you money in the long run. I wish it had the same map detail as my Garmin Nuvi 760. The 760 would show side streets even when there was no route entered. Knowing what is coming up can definitely save a lot of wear and tear on the brakes. This is why I left my old unit in the local delivery truck for the new driver to use. Truck height doesn’t seem to factor in very much when routing. I drive a flatbed with low loads most of the time and still get warnings even though I set up the load and truck profile. The weight for roads and bridges is great on highways and main roads but I recently found myself on a long wooden bridge out on a back road that was only rated to 40 tons and I was hauling 50. I got no warning from the unit so keep that in mind when you are in the sticks. Overall I really like this unit and am glad I bought it. I would recommend buying some good screen protectors. The cheap ones make it incredibly difficult to get a response from the touch screen and get scratched up really quick.

  3. Liking Garmin Dezl 570LMT 5 Star Review

I have had this unit for a little while now and I love it. It has a great set of features which are very useful driving a semi coast to coast every week. The hardware is great and the routing software is the best I have used. As with any piece of technology it is not perfect. I have seen so many reviews complaining about routing problems and various things which are more likely user related. These devices were designed to replace maps and even maps are not always correct. This is a professional unit and takes time to understand the features and set up properly. I put roughly 5000 miles a week on mine and it does everything I expect. I know I am not the sole individual that got a working unit. I think most of the bad reviews come from people who either expect too much from the technology (it is not autopilot) or never bothered to read and fully understand the instructions. If you take the time to actually learn how to use it correctly this device will serve you well. I would definitely buy this again.
